Wow!!! That is all you can say about 2013 Steel In Motion. Friday was a perfect day and a huge number of cars were on hand for Friday’s festivities. The weather on Saturday was rainy but the cars just kept rolling in and with a break in the weather later that evening, the track crew was able to dry and prep the track for some fantastic racing! Gassers, Front Engine Dragsters, Hot Rods and Customs took turns blasting down the well prepared 1/8 mile Union County Dragway. The bands enjoyed large crowds around the stage as they rocked the house both Friday and Saturday.  The first Steel In motion pin up contest took place Saturday evening and was a huge hit with 23 ladies participating. A big thank you goes out to all the hardcore participants that braved a rainy day and made Steel In Motion 2013 spectacular!

There is something we would like to address. We have heard people saying, I love your rat rod show. We in no way consider Steel In Motion to be a rat rod show. Unfortunately, over the last 10 plus years, many old cars not warranting the term, get labeled as a rat rod. Many times a Traditional Hot Rod or Traditional Custom will get that label because the general public and some old car enthusiast don’t understand the differences.  If a car or truck has chicken wire, left over parts and tools welded or bolted on, or other items done for the sole purpose of shock value, then it will most likely be a rat rod. A Traditional Hot Rod or Traditional Custom that was built and styled to closely resemble a vehicle that was built and or customized in the 40s, 50s or 60s shouldn’t get labeled as a rat rod. Our prominent hot rodding and custom history of the 40s, 50s and 60s is what Steel In Motion is proud to honor and celebrate.

Get yourself in gear and get ready for 2014!

New for 2014 will be a Vintage Bicycle Show! Bring out your cool custom or stock vintage bicycle. We will have a bicycle corral located near the music stage to show your bicycle. See a Geargoyle representative at the Geargoyles tent, next to the music stage to register your bicycle. No charge to register your vintage bicycle.

The 2013 Miss Steel in Motion Pin-Up Contest was awesome so we are proud to announce it will be back in 2014! The objective is to find a pinup that exemplifies what it means to be a great pinup in today's modern world.  This is not a contest based solely on popularity or cosmetic appeal, but on that includes inner beauty as well. This is a contest to showcase the classic glamour of the 1940's 50's and 60’s. We've all seen the World War II nose art Memphis Belle and Aluminum Overcast. We've all seen the black and white glossies of Betty Grable and Marilyn Monroe. Let's bring the beauty and glamour back!

The show starts on Friday with the Cackle Crawl where select cars that can make the hair stand up on the back of your neck will make an idle pass down the drag strip (by invitation only). There will not be any racing on Friday. Friday night will include 2 bands and overnight camping. The gates open at 1pm Friday, May 16th.

On Saturday May 17th, the gates will open at 9 am and grudge racing fun can be enjoyed by all registered participants. Race your buddy, race your rival or just cruise your ride down the strip. There will be no lights, just the drop of a flag.  Please see the rules page for information that will apply to taking your ride down the drag strip.
Show registration is open to Pre 70 Traditional Hot Rods, Customs, Gassers, Front Engine Dragsters and any year Custom Chopper or Bobber.  No Mustangs or Camaros. . No billet wheels or oversized aftermarket wheels and no directional wheels.
See Rules for registration and additional information.

Also the show and racing is open to Pre-80 American bodied Funny Cars.

Drag cars must be vintage styled, no 80s/90s or current age styled drag cars. No cars covered with current style decals. Decals must be vintage or vintage styled.
Back again is the Vintage Mini Bike show and racing. Be a kid again and show your Mini Bike and take it down the strip.  See
Rules for registration and additional information.

Vehicle registration is $15, day of the show only. The $15 registration will get the driver and vehicle in both Friday and Saturday. See Rules for additional information and to be sure your ride fits the registration criteria.

Spectators are $10 for a Friday/Saturday combo or $10 for Saturday alone.
As always there will be great live bands from the southeast and beyond. See
